What is the Little League Challenger Division?

The Little League Challenger Division is Little League's adaptive baseball program for boys and girls with physical and developmental challenges.

Who can participate in the Challenger Division?

Any boy or girl ages 4 - 18, or up to age 22 if still enrolled in a school program, with a physical or developmental challenge may participate.  If a child can participate in the traditional baseball program with reasonable accommodations, they should do so.

Is there a cost to participate in the Challenger Division?

There is no cost to participate in the South Sunrise Challenger program.

What rules are followed during a Challenger game?

Flexibility and adaptability are key during Challenger games.  Typically games are 1-2 innings long and last about an hour.  All players play defensively and bat every inning.

What are buddies and what role do they have?

Buddies are individuals who assist Challenger athletes with batting, base running, and defense, but only as needed.  South Sunrise buddies are typically our Majors and Juniors players.

Where and when are Challenger games played?

South Sunrise Challenger games are played on Saturday mornings, either at the South Sunrise Major field or at Tustin Western Little League.
