Jim Henry played baseball at South Sunrise Little League and was a Board Member, Manager, devoted father, husband, and friend. He touched our lives with his positive attitude in the face of adversity, battling acute myeloid leukemia. After passing away in 2015, the SSLL Board of Directors unanimously decided to create an annual Jim Henry Award to recognize a deserving 11-year-old who displays Jim’s love of baseball, determination, and good sportsmanship. Players are nominated by the team managers and the winner is voted upon by the SSLL Board of Directors. The winner is announced at Closing Ceremonies annually and added to a plaque displayed in the Snack Bar.
